Has anyone tried making this using a normal double crochet stitch rather than double crochet slip stitch?

59 was way too small, so I went up to 75. Which seemed like it would be good. But after doing 3 rows after the first row of chain, it shrunk too small! I don’t know what I am doing wrong. I am fairly new at crocheting.
Love this pattern!! Just FYI for people with slightly larger heads (like me).. this was way too small so make sure to add more chains
Love your videos. I’m taking up crocheting again after 30 years and love your projects. It would be helpful if you could list the finished project measurements since everyone has a different tightness on their work. It would be easier to adjust the sizes and yarn. Thanks, Judy.

It turned out amazing, however it didnt fit me amd was too smal and child sized so i suggest making maybe 20 more chains or so.
