Knitting vs. crochet: What’s the difference? And is one better than the other?

See a fiber face off between crochet artist Vincent Green-Hite and knit artist Morgan Woltersdorf, hosts of the Bluprint original series Knit Meets Knot, where they stitch up a variety of projects side by side. Along the way (with a bit of friendly banter), they offer tips and techniques for knitters and knotters of any level.

  1. i actually fing knitting easier I dont know why but in knitting we can get a hold in the knit but i dont know my yarn always slips on crochet and we have to hold only on yarn all have different opinions sooooooooo…….

  2. Knitting was invented first, but it can also be done by machine nowdays so if you really want something that screams handmade go for crochet

  3. kitkat _09 says:

the lady looks like selena gomez and doras daughter

  4. I crochet… but I honestly like the way knit garments look. I want to learn how to knit but I have no idea where to start from. Any tips please?

  5. Whitney S says:

Is crochet easier to learn? I can't get the hang of it. I can knit with my eyes closed.

  6. I think knitting was easier for me to learn.

  7. Kat B says:

I do both and I enjoy knitting more simply because it's easier for me to see each stitch since its on the needle. I also tend to get more hand cramps with crochet

  8. Style_Icon says:

I have tried to learn to knit but wasn't really as good at it. But through that I learned about crochet and I gave it a try. I have been "HOOKED" ever since for 5 or 6 years!

  9. she reminds me of Allison from orphan black and only allison

  10. Victoria Fox says:

See as a disabled person, knitting is easier for me.

  11. I do both but find I gravitate towards crochet more. I complete projects faster and any mistakes are more easily fixed. I am always scared of screwing up my knitting!

  12. fairymairah says:

    I Love both ❤😄 !

  13. wintersongs1 says:

I love to crochet but work that's entirely sc, hdc or dc looks thick and rough and not pretty at all. I don't like to knit but stockinette is really pretty. Unraveling 300 stitches when I find a mistake and then needing to put them all back on the needle is aggravating.

  14. Bunkyman says:

I am a 63 year old man. My mother taught me how to knit when I was 6 years old. I learned to crochet from a craft book when I was about 10 or so. I continue to do both and enjoy both equally. They both have their place and I am glad I know how to do both.

  15. Crochet always wins. You can make more interesting shapes, it’s more therapeutic, it’s faster, plus I do it 🙂

  16. Janett Scott says:

    (1) The versatility and speed alone in crochet is second to none. (2) Has anybody ever seen a knitted toy/Amigurumi? Not even close to a crocheted Amigurumi. (3) And lastly, knitting does not look like a crochet, but a crotchet can definitely look like knitted work.

  17. A.V K. says:

My mum always told me that when you use the really long knitting needles under your arms, the constant pressure under your arms and on the top of the breasts encourages tumours

  18. In my opinion I prefer crochet it is easy to learn and I could not learn how to knit

  19. Sparrow says:

This video popped up on my feed while knitting hair bows for Christmas presents, ought to be interesting

  20. Aaron says:

Tunisian crochet is where it's at

  21. I don't like crochet garnments and I find it way more difficult. I am a 100% knitter

  22. I learned to knit, crochet, and loom. Then my new love is a knitting machine lol

  23. I learned knit first and then crochet and I LOVE crochet!!!

  24. Iris says:

in my opinion knitted tops look better than crochted tops. crochet is more portable, but also more see-through and dense at the same time. Love the flowiness of knitted fabrics. Both are easy to pick up, but crochet was harder to me. in the beginning always skipped the last stitch & sometimes crochteted the wrong hole lol. oh! and i can knit blindly, but crocheting blindly is way harder. i always knit/crochet while watching series or movies so kinda important!

  25. Michelle Wu says:

I taught myself to knit when I was eight but now that I know crochet and have made several sweaters and am learning Tunisian crochet, I feel like crochet is better because you can do more with the basic tools

  26. I can knit and crochet (Im 10 y/o) and I have to say they are both good but I think I like crocheting better.
