My muscle memory kicks in then I read the pattern again & do it "their" way & end up "crooked mileing" EVERYTHING so I quit crocheting for years thank you so much im not crazier! Your video is perfect in length & explanation!

  7. How would I do this for a double crochet?

  8. Veronica says:

I've been crocheting a little over 40 years and never knew why my rows were always a bit off. I learned to skip that first stitch, now it makes complete sense. Thank you!

  9. I am in my mid 40s, and have some fine motor issues that make learning things like crochet difficult. Recently I decided to give crochet a go. I was just about to give up when I came across this video. Thank you for explaining so plainly why my edges were messy! I now have renewed hope that I can actually create something useful!

    Harry stylies cardigan ✨☺️

  13. what you call the first stitch looks like the second or third stitch to me. New to crochet so this was confusing. I'm sure it will come in handy at some point.

  14. Adinda Kayla says:

  15. But what if you have to count your stitches? Do you nor count that stitch?

  16. LinYouToo says:

What do you do for a double crochet in trouble crochet turns?

Him my pattern says to chain 4 and turn before making cluster stitches. Would I use a treble in this case?

HAHAHAHA I have always done that, not even knowing, hahahaha I taught myself by watching video tutorials and thought we were suppose to stitch into the very first loop, hahahaha BUT I still don't know how to stop my work from TWISTING, so for instant, I crochet a longer piece than you have here, for a scarf, but the whole think wants to twist from left to right-Grrrrrrrr please help! 😉

  24. I think sc you always go into the first stitch without skipping well that’s how I learned anyways it’s like sc is the exception to the rule of skipping… but for other stitches is where this technique is great 👍🏼 also avoids leaving a gap from the chain!

  25. This was really helpful.

  26. This has helped me so much, thank you for your video, but I'm curious, why do patterns/traditionalist instruct to skip the first chain? Every pattern I've ever done says to do that, and I wasted time redoing my work because the edges were wonky. Is there a reason for skipping the first chain?
